there are so many nice people in the world. it makes u wonder what's with all the evil ones until u figure that the'ye probably there for balance, a kind of ying-yang thing i guess. why would i suddenly say that? coz i went to the supermarket yesterday and i was just in the line checking my stuff and the cashier girl just asked me to see the name of the book in my hand. so i showed her and she was like

'o, ok, the last time i saw a book that size was when i did sociology'.

(the book i had was a 1200+ page book) so of course i had to kick my brain into gear coz i suddenly remembered that some people just start random conversations just so, so i put my mind in convo-mode and put on my convo-smile and thought of a response just in the nick of time

'o yeah i did sociology too, i know that book. The Haralambos, right?'

she sort of nodded and smiled and maybe made some other little comment, you know the kind of thing normal people do in those random little conversations. so she continued doing her cashiering thing and i slipped in a little joke

'this is actually more useful for lifting weights'.

when she had finished up everything and i was leaving she said something like thank you come again ,the usual cashier thing and good luck with that, but the expression on her face filled in the rest 'good luck with whatever subject requires you to carry around a weight desquised as a text-book'. all in all i thought it was a pleasant little exchange and i was quite pleased with myself for doing something that i assume comes naturally to most people.

its been a roller coaster ride and i dont think i am quite there yet but i think i am much better off than i was 3 or 4 years ago when i decided i was going to make a conscious effort to improve my social skills.

but my original point was that there are nice people in the world, strangely enough. yes everyone, there are actually people out there whose job it is to make your patronage of their place of employment comfortable who actually do just that. i guess without the horrible people you would never know how nice the nice ones are and by extension without all of life's bullshit you wouldn't know how nice the good stuff is.
